Completing a Course: Chapters, Videos, and Tests

How a course is built

Every course in BPS is made of chapters. A chapter can hold a video, a reading section, a test, work you submit, or a check step like a passcode or a photo. You finish a course by finishing every chapter in it, in order. The course marks itself complete when the last chapter is done.

How to work through a course

  1. Open the course from your assignment list or the Training Center.
  2. Look at the chapter list. Done chapters show as complete. Open ones do not.
  3. Open the first chapter that is not complete.
  4. Finish what the chapter asks for. Watch the video, read the page, or take the test.
  5. Let the chapter save. Wait for the complete mark before you close the page.
  6. Move to the next chapter.
You do not have to finish a course in one sitting. BPS keeps your place. When you come back, open the course and pick up at the first chapter that is not complete.

Videos

Watch each video to the end. Skipping to the last seconds can leave the chapter marked as not complete. If a video stops or will not play, note the course and chapter names and try a fresh sign in. If it still fails, ask for help using Article 12 in this book.

Tests and assessments

Some chapters end with a test. The test shows its passing score before you start, if one is set.
  1. Read each question with care.
  2. Answer every question. An unanswered question can block the chapter.
  3. Submit the test.
  4. Read your result on the screen. It will show if you passed.
If you do not pass, review the chapter material and take the test again when the course allows it. Your scores show later in My Report Card.

Courses that open in their own window

Some courses open in a separate player window. This is normal for packaged courses. Finish your work inside that window and let it save before you close it. Closing the window too fast can lose your progress for that chapter.

The one-time passcode step

Some courses ask for a one-time passcode near the end. The code proves that you, the agent named on the account, did the work. It shows up most on courses that end in a certification or that need a Manager review.
  1. You reach the passcode step in the chapter.
  2. The system sends a code by text message to your Manager.
  3. Your Manager gives you the code by text, email, or a quick call.
  4. Type the code into the course.
  5. The chapter marks the step complete and lets you move on.
Some courses use a self check instead. The system asks for your own cell number and texts the code straight to you. Type it in the same way. If the code does not arrive:
  1. Wait two or three minutes. Texts are not always instant.
  2. Tell your Manager you are waiting. They may not have seen the text yet.
  3. If it is a self check, confirm the cell number you typed, then request a new code.
  4. Keep the course tab open while you wait.
Never ask another agent to finish this step for you. The point of the code is to show you did the work yourself.

The photo check

A few courses use a photo check instead of a code. The course asks for a photo to confirm it is you.
  1. When the photo step opens, allow the browser to use your camera if it asks.
  2. Take a clear photo and save it.
  3. Move on to the next part of the chapter.
Your photo is saved with your course record. You can see it later from My Report Card, in the course and chapter where the check took place.

If a chapter will not mark complete

Work through this list in order:
  1. Play the video again and let it run to the very end.
  2. Check for a question, a submit button, or a step you skipped.
  3. If you submitted work, confirm the work shows as sent.
  4. Sign out, sign back in, and open the chapter again.
If the chapter still shows as open, write down the course name and chapter name and ask for help. Article 12 shows who to ask.

What success looks like

Every chapter in the course shows as complete, and the course shows as Completed in My Report Card.
