# Setting Up Teams in Your Location

## What this job is

A team is a group of agents inside your location that you manage as one unit. Teams match how your brokerage really works: a team leader and their agents, a new hire class, a top producer group. Once teams are built, you can assign training to a whole team at once and read reports by team instead of hunting name by name.

This article starts from the Teams feature already turned on for your location. If you do not see Teams in your menus, the feature is not on yet. Turning it on happens above Manager level, so ask BPS support to enable it and then come back here.

## Create a team

1. Open Teams from Management Tools.
2. Click the option to add a new team.
3. Name the team. Pick a name your agents will recognize, like the team leader's name or the group's real name at the brokerage.
4. Save the team.

## Name a team leader

1. Open the team you just made.
2. Choose the team leader from your agent list.
3. Save.

Pick a leader who will actually check on training. The leader's name on the team tells agents who to go to with day to day questions, so it should be the same person they already report to.

## Add agents

1. Open the team.
2. Choose the option to add members.
3. Pick each agent who belongs on this team.
4. Save, then read the member list back to confirm nobody is missing and nobody extra slipped in.

An agent can be added the day their account is made. A new agent with no team will be harder to track, so add people to teams as part of your new hire routine.

## Remove an agent

1. Open the team.
2. Find the agent on the member list.
3. Choose the remove option next to their name.
4. Save and confirm the list again.

Removing someone from a team does not deactivate their account and does not erase their training. It only changes the group they are counted in. If the agent left the brokerage, deactivate them instead. See Deactivating an Agent Who Leaves.

## Keep teams current

Teams drift out of date fast. Once a month, read each team's member list and ask two questions: is everyone here still on this team, and is anyone missing? Fix the list on the spot. Reports and assignments are only as good as the team lists behind them.

## What success looks like

Every agent in your location sits on the right team, each team has a real leader, and you can assign training to a team in one step and read that team's progress as a group.

## Common problems

**You cannot find the Teams area.** The feature is likely off for your location. Ask BPS support to turn it on.

**An agent shows on two teams.** That can be fine if they truly work with both groups, but it makes team totals overlap. Decide which team is their home team and keep them there unless there is a real reason for both.

**You assigned training but a team member got nothing.** The agent may have been added to the team after the assignment went out. Assignments reach the people on the list at the time you send them, so assign again to the new member.
