# Adding an Agent to Your Location

## What this job is

When a new agent joins your brokerage, you add them to BPS by hand. You make their account, set what they can do, set what training they can see, and place them in your location. One agent takes a few minutes.

If you are adding a whole roster at once, use Bulk Importing Your Roster instead. If you would rather have agents fill in their own details, see Inviting Agents to Enroll Themselves.

## Two choices you make for every agent

**Access level** controls what the person can do in the system. For your agents, pick the Agent level. Agents can sign in, train, and manage only their own account. Do not give an agent a Manager level unless they truly help you run the location.

**Content roles** control what training the person can see. Pick the roles that match the courses this agent should get. An agent with no content role sees almost nothing, even with an assignment waiting.

Your location is the third choice, and it matters most. Every agent must sit in your brokerage location. An agent saved to the wrong location will not see your courses or your assignments.

## Steps

1. Open your user list from Management Tools.
2. Click the option to add a new user.
3. Type the agent's first name and last name.
4. Type the agent's email address. Use a real email the agent checks. Their notices and password help go there.
5. Set the username. Many brokerages use the agent's email address as the username so it is easy to remember.
6. Set a first password, or let the system create one. The agent will change it when they first sign in.
7. Pick the Agent access level.
8. Pick the content roles for the training this agent should see.
9. Confirm the location is your brokerage location.
10. Save the user.
11. Send the agent their username and sign in details, and tell them what training to start first.

## What success looks like

The agent signs in on the first try, lands in your location, and sees the courses their content roles give them. You can find them in your user list and in your reports.

## Common problems

**The agent signs in but sees no courses.** Their content role is missing or wrong. Open their account, fix the content roles, and save.

**The agent is not in your reports.** They were probably saved to the wrong location, or they have not been assigned anything yet. Check the location first, then check assignments.

**You added the same agent twice.** Deactivate the extra account so reports stay clean. See Deactivating an Agent Who Leaves for the steps. The same route turns off a duplicate.

**The email address is already in use.** The agent may already have an account, maybe under another location. Do not force a second account. Ask BPS support to help you find the first one.
